I worked programming for an Access/Jet database at Consort Securities Systems which used a database to store data imported from the stock exchange's Crest system. Here I developed a good working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
I further expanded my experience of working in database programming and design when working with Oracle at Parallax and Keane.
When Triton Technology introduced the identiPol QA instrument which required a database for storage of each individual customer's experiment results, I was able to use my knowledge of database design to create the complex structure required to store the necessary data. An access/jet database file solution was chosen because the users were envisaged as being mostly small companies, many of which were likely not to have IT departments capable of running and maintaining large database management systems and servers.
