HTML or Hypertext Markup Language is the standard language that is used to define the content of web pages on the internet. I have been using HTML to design and build websites for many years. Nowadays most websites also require knowledge of CSS, Javascript and MySql.

HTML is the standard language that is used to define the content of web pages on the internet and CSS is now the standard way of defining how a browser should present that content for the user.

Javascript is the standard client-side scripting language used in website design. Javascript code runs within the browser on your pc or device when you view a website, and allows changes to be made dynamically, e.g. for animations or changes to what is displayed based upon user's settings such as screen sizes, etc.

PHP is a server-side scripting language that allows a website to be produced dynamically, i.e. in response to user input, or data held in a database, etc. The PHP program basically determines the HTML code that is output.

MySQL is the database system commonly used to store data used by website servers. It is a free to use system and is easily interfaced with the common Apache web server system. It is therefore much more common for use in general purpose website design and development, but still has the power and complexity if necessary that larger database system such as SQL Server and Oracle can provide.
